ERMCO Training Coordinator Deitra Clifton was selected as the March 2023 Culture Champion.
Deitra joined ERMCO in 2013 because she liked the company's family atmosphere and excellent benefits. She started as the Switchboard Operator and Human Resources (HR) Assistant in June 2013 and transitioned to HR Specialist in 2017. Deitra accepted her new role as ERMCO's Training Coordinator in January 2023. In just four months, Deitra overhauled and upgraded our new employee orientation taking it from four jam-packed hours of paperwork and policies to a week-long on-boarding experience complete with hands-on classroom training.
Roger Stegeman, ERMCO VP of Manufacturing, said the initial feedback from new employees regarding the new orientation process has been outstanding.
"Our revamped orientation gives new employees a greater understanding of our ERMCO team culture," he remarked. "You can feel her excitement as she interacts with our new team members.”
VP of Quality Todd Carlson nominated Deitra for the award because she is cheerful, team-oriented, and innovative.
"Deitra has taken ownership of the new ERMCO Dyersburg Training Center and New Employee Orientation, driving collaboration across all departments to improve the process drastically,” added Carlson.
“Deitra is a natural leader at ERMCO,” said ERMCO Creative Content Designer Nicole Shepard. "People follow her. People listen to her. I like to call her the 'Den Mother' of ERMCO because the new employees get so attached to her during orientation week. Deitra puts all her energy into ensuring they are armed with what they need to succeed at ERMCO, and the rest is up to them."
As a Training Coordinator, Deitra prides herself in providing new Team ERMCO members with all the necessary resources and information for a successful ERMCO career.
“It is so rewarding after an orientation week to see and hear that the new team members already feel successful and have gained the knowledge and confidence to begin their bright futures at ERMCO,” said Deitra. “Seeing them motivated and wanting to learn is my biggest reward."
