Johnny Nichols
Metal Prep Department (Tank & Paint)
Pole Plant

Your supervisor Johnny Nichols began his career at ERMCO in 1996 as a Cover Welder in the Pad Plant Final Assembly Department. He was promoted to FA Shift Leader in 1996. In 1997, he transferred to the Metal Prep Tank Department and was promoted to Tank Department Shift Leader in 2001, Metal Prep Pad Tank Department Supervisor in 2007, and Metal Prep Pole Tank and Paint Supervisor in 2013.

Johnny chose to work at ERMCO because he heard through word of mouth that ERMCO needed welders, and he needed a job. He had just relocated to the area, so he knew very little about the company.

Tell me about your journey at ERMCO.

I was promoted to lead in Pad FA in 1996. I stepped down in 1997 and bid into the Tank shop, which was consolidated at the time and consisted of Metal Prep, Pole Tank, and Pad Tank. I was promoted to lead in the tank shop in 2001. I was promoted to the supervisor of Metal Prep / Pad Tank in 2007. I moved to Pole Tank / Paint supervisor in 2013, at Single Phase, and to the Pole Plant in 2021 as the Pole Tank / Paint supervisor.

What advice would you give me for me to be successful at ERMCO?

Stay positive, eager to learn and be a team player.

How can I support our team and add value to ERMCO?

Come to work everyday, work safely, give it your all, follow the rules and help your team.

Who should I speak to if I have questions, concerns, suggestions about my work environment? What is the chain of command?

It's best if speak with your lead person first, then me if you are not satisfied. If the issue persists, you should speak to the Pole Plant Manufacturing Manager John Taylor.

What is the best way for me to communicate with you?

Come to my office. I am available at the end of third shift and the beginning of second.

If I can't make it to work, what do I do?

Call 731-288-4250 at least one hour prior to your shift. That is the Pole Tank and Paint Department office number. If no one answers, leave a clear message with your first and last name, department, shift and reason for missing work.
