Circuit Breakers

ECI internal oil-immersed secondary circuit breakers are designed for use as part of a protection package for either single or three phase distribution transformers. The circuit breaker permits operation of the transformer at loads exceeding its continuous self-cooled rating during short time peaks.

The circuit breaker trips due to heat from the combination of transformer current and the temperature of the transformer oil. Optional magnet trip circuit breakers follow the same interrupting characteristics as the normal breaker except the breaker will immediately trip when the current exceeds 10-15 times rated transformer load current.

Three Phase Circuit Breakers

  • Expulsion Fuses

ECI manufactures a complete product range of expulsion fuses for use in oil-filled distribution transformers.
  • Arrester Disconnect Switch

ECI's DSN switches allow electrical testing of transformers equipped with internal under oil lighting arresters.
  • Bushings

ECI manufactures bushings for use in pole and padmount oil filled distribution transformers and other oil filled electrical apparatus.
  • Product Accessories

ECI's product accessories enhance the performance and reliability of transformers.
  • Breaker Accessories

ECI's line of accessories facilitate the assembly of circuit breakers into oil-filled transformers.
  • Dry-Well Fuseholders

ECI's dry-well fuseholders allow the placement of dead front type current limiting fuses in transformers.
  • Arresters

ECI's lightning arresters were designed for the low voltage side of single or three phase transformers.

5-50 kVA Circuit Breakers

ERMCO manufactures a complete product range of small kVA single phase circuit breakers for use in oil filled distribution transformers. Products include the thermal trip and magnetic trip breakers. Breakers may be ordered separately or as a breaker on a bracket.

The circuit breaker is typically mounted inside the transformer directly above the core/coil assembly. Operating linkage for the breaker is brought out through the tank above the oil level to an external operating handle.

The breaker on bracket is a completely factory assembled kit designed to provide the transformer manufacturer a simpler design for assembly and to eliminate linkage adjustments. The leading cause of inoperable circuit breakers – linkage problems – can be eliminated by specifying breaker on bracket.

75-167 kVA Circuit Breakers

ECI manufactures a complete product range of large kVA single phase circuit breakers for use in oil filled distribution transformers. These breakers come with the signal light and emergency overload features. Breakers may be ordered separately or as a breaker on a bracket.
